The Past, Present, and Future of Public Engagement of Science Communication
Fri, 21. October 2022 12:30 - 2 p.m. CET
Bruce V. Lewenstein is Professor of Science Communication at Cornell University. Working at the intersections of Communication Sciences and Science & Technology Studies, his work and research has focused on the history and contemporary iterations of public engagement. As well as describing past endeavours to engage the public in science in his talk, Prof. Lewenstein will also discuss the place of science communication in contemporary societies.
Dr. Klaus Taschwer will act as discussant. An author, researcher and journalist (Der Standard), Dr. Taschwer has explored science communication throughout his career, and is one of the authors of the policy brief (published by IHS Vienna) "Impulse für einen Neustart der Wissenschaftskommunikation in Österreich", arguing for more succint actions to be put in place to develop science communication efforts in Austria.
