Birte Fähnrich is a private lecturer at FU Berlin and advisor for Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung BMBF, Referat Wissenschaftskommunikation. Her work is concerned principally with science communication and public engagement, as well as expert communication, advisory committees as well as how they are perceived by publics.

In this talk, Fähnrich speaks to the public perception of experts, focusing on differentiating the different perspectives one can take on expertise (functional, attributional, epistemic, normative).
